These
self proclaimed 'super skankin action hero's', originating
from the Wylye Valley, Salisbury, perform an amazing blend of
the finest ska and rocking punk, are the ultimate party band.
THE most sexually distracted band in the history of
everything, SolaBeat have a punk-fuelled ska calypso style they describe
as 'bitchin blends of fly ska beats n party rockin punk rock'.
A band starting
off as a 3 piece back in 1998, has since developed into a 7
piece, with a 3 piece horn section. They have become pretty
big on the UK live circuit, with sell out shows up and down
the country. Their biggest recognition has to be in Salisbury,
where they are based, where it is virtually impossible to get
tickets for any of the shows there these days (I should know).
Their first
release, 'Adventures in Blue Flash',
a 10 track self released CD, was a big hit, with every fan
owning one. The more recently released 'Medication',
a 5 track EP, has a much better, stronger sound. Unlike
'Adventures In Blue Flash', where the tracks were written
specifically with a live situation in mind, the new tracks are
far more suited for a CD. All of their songs are as catchy as
hell and very infectious.
More
recently, SolaBeat put pen to paper to sign to Moon Ska Europe, which
they've now released their new EP 'Rise On Up' on. November
2002 saw them support [spunge] on their UK tour! Then, after
some legal issues, that changed their name from Spankboy to
SolaBeat Alliance, just in time for their tour with Whitmore,
Mixtwitch and Graveltrap.
SolaBeat headed to the studio once again to lay down the
tracks for their new album, 'Island Fire', due out this
autumn.
