Tracklisting: 'Hotwired'
'Where Do I Belong' 'Shoot From The Hip' 'Colonial' 'Hold On'
After
being extremely impressed with Jesse James' first EP (the demo
versions) I couldn't wait to get this one. Jesse James said
"If 'Shoes' was pop, then this is rock", and they're
right. This has a more punk feel to it, its a lot more 'rock n
roll'. The tracks are a lot tighter, the horn breaks are
stronger - the whole sound is a lot more powerful..
The first track, 'Hotwired',
also released as a single, launches straight into it with a
great horns, drums and guitar intro, and has a really speedy
feel. The lyrics are once again very catchy, and with a big
built up to the chorus, which all make this song great.
The rest of the songs on this
are all really good - 'Where Do I Belong' has a brilliant
guitar riff followed by some really tight horn breaks. 'Shoot
From The Hip' is one of my favourites on this - its a fast
track with really powerful horns, and sounds a lot like some
of the 'Rocket From The Crypt' songs. 'Colonial' is the
slowest of the tracks on this, but its still very cool. My
favourite track of this has to be their cover of 'Hold On' -
its is a great track, with brilliant horn sections, its really
upbeat and really catchy
This is a great EP, and a
really good development on 'Shoes' - its has a stronger punk
rock influence, which will no longer be confused with ska.
These guys are going to be big! 5/5!
