'A quartet of young, infectious, blasting Punk
Rockers, Milton Keynes' Graveltrap are just that bit different from
the rest . . .'
Freshly
signed to Moon ska Europe, Graveltrap played and survived their
first gig in Nov 1999 at the age of 16, with a collective love of
NIRVANA, GREENDAY, THERAPY, RANCID and SYMPOSIUM.
The band play melodic song based punk rock but with plenty of loud
guitars and attitude, and four years later and still with only an
average age of nineteen, Graveltrap have built up quite a history
and following which would put a lot of older bands to shame.
"Our sound is more about the energy of what's being played than
the sound quality - I think John could do with a guitar that has a
full set of tuning knobs but he makes do...! We're determined to
keep this thing real" - Dan
The band have been working hard since the start, promoting
themselves along the way with mailing lists, and merch, and with the
aid of a website which has proved to be a vital tool for national
promotion and feedback. Hits are coming in from all over the UK
thanks to a slot on Sky TV and various national compilation
releases.
Graveltrap's hard work is starting to pay off, as they are now one
of the most popular young original punk styled bands to have come
out of Milton Keynes (the other being Capdown). The band have built
up a huge, very loyal local following that allows them to sell out
not just THE PITZ, but all the local venues in and around Milton
Keynes. They have played successful shows in the Midlands, with
regular slots at Camden Underworld, London, through Sublime
promotions. They have also managed to get support slots with such
bands as [SPUNGE], KING PRAWN, THE PIETASTERS, JESSE JAMES, MU330,
AND WHITMORE.
Graveltrap self released two CD E.P's, along with various songs put
on numerous compilation CD's. Their first release 'Dilated',
recorded at Far Heath by Angus Batey (Prodigy, Seafood) was released
at the end of 2000. 'Kickin' Chickens' off Dilated received local,
national and international radio airplay and went to number one in
all the local music charts where it stayed for the next six months!
The CD has finally stopped pressing after selling near to 500
copies. Their latest E.P - 'Write-Off' (recorded by top punk
producer, Ian Wetherell at Premier Studios) has out sold 'Dilated',
received some glowing reviews in fanzines and national press (Big
Cheese, Metal Hammer, Rock Sound) and got the band a shit load of
amazing gig's and some very positive record label interest.
Graveltrap finally inked a deal with Moon Ska Europe in late 2002,
and joined 'Over The Moon Tour', along
with fellow Mooners' Whitmore, Mixtwitch and Spankboy in April.
Their Debut album, 'Concrete and Udder Chaos' was released during the
tour, and has received some really good reviews.
Graveltrap can be seen on tour this autumn with Mixtwitch
