GASH formed in 1997m and self funded their first CD release "CAFFEINE FUELLED" that they sold at gigs and local independent record shops, and leter, a 4 track, "WHERE'S ANDRZEJ" in 1999.

2000 saw Gash take a short break from touring to write and record their first professionally produced record "VIRGIN ON THE RIDICULOUS", which got good reviews, and achieved a higher profile for GASH. It also help them gain support slots for bands like GOOD RIDDANCE, SNUFF, DEATH BY STEREO, GROOVIE GHOULIES, FOXY and ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN.

Golf Records offered Gash a record deal in early '02, and "A DAY OFF FOR THE CONSCIENCE" was soon released. That spring Gash supported [spunge] and Bowling For Soup on their UK tour, gaining them an even bigger following.

Shortly after Gash supported US ska punkers Lass Than Jake, and in autumn of '02 they joined Mixtwitch, Whitmore and 4ft Fingers on the 'Golfing On The Moon Tour', which was a huge success.
